Della Bell-Freeman has 25 years of experience as a public school educator. Della has taught 5th grade, multiage grade 1-2 classrooms, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and a grade 1-2 loop. After many years as a classroom teacher and a stint as a Select Teachers as Regional Resource (STARR) teacher for the Heart of Missouri RPDC, Della became an elementary principal in a primary building. She then served as an intermediate principal before assuming a role in a pre-K through grades 5 building as the principal. Currently Della serves as the assistant superintendent in Montgomery County R-II. Della has a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from MU, a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction and an emphasis in elementary administration from WWU, and a doctorate in educational leadership from SLU. Della also serves as an adjunct faculty member for WWU. Della has held leadership roles at the local, regional, and state level in both MSTA and MAESP. Della currently serves as a Learning Forward regional representative for the Hook Center. Della is married to Kevin Freeman, a retired school leader and current DESE director. Together Della and Kevin have a blended family of 5 children, three cats, and two dogs including an adorable miniature dachshund.
